The Look

The Grunge Look was all over the catwalk during London Fashion Week, and different stylists have expressed their own take on it! It was romanticised by some and made into a bold statement by others.

Here at e.l.f. we have decided to create a bundle that will let you recreate the magic as extremely as you wish! The Dramatic Grunge Look is centred around the eyes, and the e.l.f. Lash Collection in Dramatic really brings it to life! Add a smoky eye effect and tone down the lips, and you are ready to go!

Dramatic Eyelashes

The Dramatic Lash Collection included in the bundle contains 2 eyelash sets, 1 in full size and 1 in half size, 1 adhesive glue and 1 pair of tweezers.

The eyelashes are soft and lightweight, and they will fit comfortably on the lash line to give an enhanced look. The lightly adhesive edge will facilitate the application and will work together with the glue. You can use the half strips for a more natural look or the full strips for a truly dramatic effect.

Tips for Best Results and for Lashes that Will Last

When it comes to the application and care of false eyelashes, all novices are a little scared at first, and questions such as “do I curl the eyelashes before or after the application?”, “and what about mascara?” arise. The answer is mostly “it’s up to you”. However, we have put together a few tips and tricks we have learned over the years to help you trying out this look!

Apply them

1. Let’s get trimming!

Before applying any glue to the false eyelash, rest it on your lash line to determine the length required, then remove it and trim as needed.

TIP 1: Even if you do not require to shorten the false lashes, trimming the very edge of the false lash will improve adherence to the eye, as the edge tends to be slightly harder.

TIP2: If you want to achieve a natural curve and you are struggling to get the edges to stick, you can choose to cut the full eyelash in 3 sections, and glue them on one after the other.

2. It’s glue time!

Apply a thin amount of glue along the entire length of the lash strip and allow to set for about 30 seconds or until tacky. Using the tweezers, place the false lash as close to the base of your natural lashes as possible, working from the centre out. Hold the lash in place for a few seconds until the lash strip has a chance to hold.

3. Camouflage them!

It is now time to conceal the fact we are wearing false lashes!

If you wish to curl your lashes, gently do so now as if you were not wearing false ones, so that they will both take the same curvature. You can then apply your favourite mascara, to match any colour difference with your own eyelashes, and a touch of eyeliner will allow you to blend in the false lash line, for a seamless finish!

Clean and store them

To remove the false lashes, hold a warm damp towel to the eye and gently peel off false lashes from the root.

To ensure that your false lashes have a long life, it is now time to get cleaning! We have used the e.l.f. Daily Brush Cleaner and found that it is great to remove both mascara and glue, restoring them to their former beauty! To do so, we have rested them on a cotton pad, sprayed them and wiped them with a different cotton pad.

The 3 photos below show the cleaning processed. For this demonstration we have used the e.l.f. Dramatic Lash Kit:

Once finished, make sure to put the lashes back onto the mould, as this will ensure they keep their curved shape – ready for the next application!

If you have any tips of your own, please let us know below! We can’t wait to hear them! 🙂
